Admission Regulations

Our school provides British curriculum IGCSE and A-Level courses. G9 and G10 students mainly attend IGCSE course while G11 and G12 students mainly A Level. All the students applying for our school need to take entrance examinations (tests and interview) due to the difficulty of IGCSE and A Level and to judge the potential to complete the courses from which they will benefit.

Admission Policies

Admission Target Group
No nationality or household register limit for students to apply for our school. All students with different race, religious belief and education background are considered and treated equally at ULC. However, ULC does not provide support for students with special physical, emotional, or learning needs. Therefore we will not accept the applications from these students.

Admission Grade
Students need to apply for the grade appropriate to their age and educational level reached.

Recruitment standard
Students need to meet the standard of English and Mathematics needed to be successful with the school's programme. Retake for the failed subject is allowed. Each student can retake twice.

English ability: The assessment of the English ability is based on The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, also known as CEFR. Please refer to the examination syllabus for examination range and contents. G9 students should reach mid-level and G10, G11 students B1 and B2.
Mathematics, logic deduction: the rank of the test is based on the CIE rank standard. The contents covers the overlap of local course curriculum and IGCSE and A Level. Please refer to the examination syllabus for examination range and contents.
Interview: The one-to-one communication between the interviewer and the student is to test the language communication ability, learning enthusiasm, behavior, attitude, study willingness and behavioral ability. Please refer to the examination syllabus for examination range and contents.

Grade for study
Once the student pass the entrance exam for the grade they apply, they are allowed to study in this grade. If they achieve A or above A in all the exams, they can apply for a higher grade entrance exam. If they pass it, they are allowed to study in this grade, or stay in the lower one. This policy is not applied to fresh G11 students.

Transfer of school
Student with study experience of GCSE/IGCSE or course system of the same level can apply for transfer to ULC. He/She needs to provide the report card with every single subject of Grade B or above. After approval he/she can officially enters ULC.

Bay Area Writing Project BAWP
In order to help the freshmen to adjust for the regular course in English, all of them are required to attend the BAWP at Nansha Campus site in July. For details and information please find in the presentation and materials handed out on test day.

Study Abroad Program in Australia
All G9 students are required to attend the Study Abroad Program in Brisbane, Australia. All details and information please find in the presentation and materials handed out on test day, as well as from the school official website.

Recruitment Policy
Once school meets the admission planned number of students, the recruitment is finished.
